A galaxy of color, variety of costumes, and a jolly carnival atmosphere characterized the annual costume party of the high school department of the Hollywood School for Girls, which was one of the gay events of the week.
Prizes for the most attractive costumes were awarded to Miss Frances Rich, daughter of Irene Rich; Miss Cecelia De Mille, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil B. De Mille, and Miss Isabelle Turton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Turton.
Mary Louise Moore, daughter of Mrs. V.V. Whaley, won the prize for the funniest costume, while honorable mention was given to Miss Virginia Parsons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Parsons; Miss Isabelle Belknap, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Belknap; Miss Betty Jenks, daughter of Mrs. Leila Jenks; Miss Marian Carr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Carr, and Miss Marguerite Swope, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Lesslie Swope.
Others participating in the festivities were Miss Margaret De Mille, Miss Page Bradshaw, Miss Elizabeth Campbell, Miss Harlean Carpenter, Miss Frances Cunningham, Miss Margaret Gibson, Miss Helen Gould, Miss Frances Haushammer, Miss Alice Jordon, Miss Marjorie Kendall, Miss Lois Koplin, Miss Marian Marks, Miss Marguerite Perry, Miss Winifred Perry, Miss Elizabeth Puterbaugh, Miss Dorothy Richards, Miss Agnes Robert, Miss Julia Singer, Miss Gwendolyn Turner, Miss Kathleen Weiller, Miss Henrietta Youell, Miss Virginia Wheeler, Miss Helen Hillman, and Miss Lillian Gilmore.
Hostesses for the evening were Miss Helen Williams, Miss Sophie Harpe, and Miss Helen Jones.
A tea was given this afternoon at the school in honor of two new members of the faculty, Miss Corela Bond and Mrs. Frank Baker.
Presiding over the tea tables, which were prettily decorated with spring flowers, was Miss Helen Williams, assisted by Mrs. Richard Livingston, Miss Sophie Harpe, Miss Bunola Kucker, and Mrs. Frances M. Hayes. An informal musical program was presented by Miss Bunola Kucker and Miss Gertrude Prescott.
