Summary: Stan and Ollie get up to their usual antics, this time as the foot and doormen of an upscale hotel; one victim of their shenanigans is Jean Harlow, who emerges from her cab blissfully unaware of having been partially disrobed by Stan after he closes the door on her dress.
Trivia:
- The most widely known of Harlow’s shorts with Laurel and Hardy, Harlow made a splash on the set when she arrived in a see-through slip. (As per usual, this was not a sexual thing–Harlow, merely comfortable with the naturalness of her body, misunderstood the crew’s call of being ‘underdressed’ for the role.) Somewhat famously, she still appeared ‘underdressed’ enough on screen that it roused the ire of her maternal grandfather, who threatened to disown her after seeing Double Whoopee in theaters and encountering his granddaughter in lingerie. “Poor grandfather,” Harlow said of the situation, “those teddies were too much for him.” (Grandpa Skip Harlow soon simmered down.)
