Jean Harlow, who panicks [sic] the movie fans whether her hair is red or done in platinum, never forgets a friend. And so she was in San Francisco today on behalf of Johnny Hamp, whose orchestra is opening a short engagement at the Hotel Mark Hopkins.
“When I heard Johnny was coming to San Francisco to play,” Miss Harlow explained, “I just had to be here to see that his debut was a success.”
The screen star’s visit is her first since she came to San Francisco prior to the death of her husband, Paul Bern, motion picture executive. At that time she sought a rest from the ardor of making the film, “Red Dust”, which was subsequently acclaimed a box office hit. Her stay there was brief, as she was called back to Hollywood. Two days later Bern ended his life.
