Hal Roach is looking for a pretty girl with a good voice to play featured roles in his two-reel comedy productions. He has no preference as to coloring. She may be blonde or brunette. But she must be pleasing to the ear as well as the eye. With the cancellation of the contract of Jean Harlow, who returned to her Chicago home and private life because of her parents’ objections to her comedy career, the Roach studio is without a leading woman to play opposite its comedy stars. Here’s a chance for some lucky girl. Mr. Roach does not require any previous stage or screen experience for his featured player. But she must be able to please the “mikes” as well the eyes of all beholders.
*Harlow, of course, did not return to the Chicago area after she left it permanently in late 1927.
