One of the most charming hostesses of the season was Mrs. Jean H. Carpenter of La Brea avenue, whose many attractive affairs recently have been much enjoyed. Mrs. Carpenter entertained last week with a dinner party in honor of U.S. Dist.-Atty. Frederick Bernard, and Mrs. Bernard of Tucson, other guests including former Governor of Arizona Thomas Campbell and Mrs. Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sumner Kent, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Mallette Burdick, Mr. and Mrs. George Hoover, Miss Betty Bernard, Miss Harlean Carpenter and T.B. Cosgrove.

Mrs. Carpenter is planning a series of delightful affairs in the near future, one of them being in honor of Mrs. A. Roy Kilburn of Kansas City, who has been passing several months at the Ambassador, and who is returning home some time in October.
