As many readers and collectors know, it can be a real pain to see a gem of an image jammed right in the spine of a movie magazine.
I found an example awhile ago while perusing the January 1937 edition of Screenland on archive.org.
Fan magazines were usually about three months behind current news; which is why Jean is in costume for Libeled Lady, released in October 1936.
Isn’t that a shame? Cut right in the middle. After coming across this, I did a little operation on this clipping to see it better. I found this in my files recently and thought I’d share so everyone can enjoy.

A little frustrating they don’t fit together perfectly like puzzle pieces, but much better.
Absolutely love how radiant Jean is in this candid and the gorgeous smile she’s giving to the gardener. I wonder who he was, and what Jean did with that rose afterward. Knowing her, she would have treasured it! I think that’s fairly apparent here.
