Finally got around to scanning some new photos.. Here’s my favorite acquisition, which I’m very glad to finally have in HQ:
Jean Harlow in a gorgeous pose by an orange tree, photographed by Charles E. Bulloch in 1931.
Other photos taken that day were posed poolside; here are more shots from this session, which I (unfortunately!) do not own.
Below is the original press snipe that accompanied this first Bulloch photo. Since this was taken prior to her tenure at MGM, Harlow is referred to by her former status as a Caddo star (Howard Hughes’ production company). Hughes, who remained Harlow’s boss after Hell’s Angels but had no further plans for her, was making decent money from loaning out his “platinum blonde” star to other studios.
