93 years ago today in Harlow History, October 6, 1933: Jean Harlow (and Irving Thalberg) represent MGM at a Warner Bros luncheon for members of the U.S. Naval Affairs committees in the House and Senate. The point of events like this was to portray Hollywood as gracious and accommodating instead of a land of sin and vice, so studio heads sought to fête government leaders on various levels to help keep their films in theaters. The luncheon took place at 12:30 PM on one of the Warner soundstages in Burbank.
Harlow is photographed with a mix of people from both studios: head of MGM production Irving Thalberg, George Brent, Maureen O’Sullivan, Joe E. Brown, Richard Barthelmess, Mervyn LeRoy, and Paul Muni.
P.S. Happy birthday, Carole Lombard! Wonder what she was up to this day.
