Did you know Jean was a Colonel? Honorarily, at least.
November 28, 1933: Jean Harlow appears on a variety radio program hosted by KHJ, which featured a company of honorary celebrity “colonels” commissioned by Governor Laffoon of Kentucky.
Other colonels that appeared on the program included Clark Gable, Will Rogers, and Mae West. Gable and Harlow performed a comedy skit together. Also present on the program were John Boles, who sang “I Did Not Know”, and lovely Jeanette MacDonald, who sang “I Am Free” and “Villa.”
Raymond Paige and Orchestra were also there, supplementing the musical selection with an original number called “Blue Grass”.

On the subject of Kentucky Colonels, Jean Harlow came two whole years before the title was bestowed upon Harland Sanders. The same governor appointed both. That’s pretty funny to me!
