Harlow was amiable with both Colleen Moore and Dick; she was an extra in Colleen’s silent Why Be Good? (1929), and had a signed portrait of her on her famed “portrait wall”. Dick Powell acted as emcee during portions of Harlow’s personal appearance tour two years earlier, in December 1931.
The two also costarred in various radio programs over the years. Powell and Mary Brian were an item during this time period; articles from 1934 constantly speculate on an engagement between them that never happened. The couple partied at the Harlow mansion with her and Bill Powell on July 4, 1934. On the other hand, Hal Rosson and Harlow formally separated shortly after this outing, in February 1934. Their divorce wasn’t announced until May, at Carmelita Geraghty’s wedding.
Some more choice info: Harlow was on suspension from MGM during this time, too (thanks to Marino Bello) and returned to the studio in January 1934 to film Eadie Was A Lady, which became The Girl From Missouri after an amazing number of title changes.
